The Announcement of iOS8, Apple Covered Some of The Coming Changes in The App Store Application. This Section Was Brief But a Lot was Said And This Will Affect How our Apps Are Presented in The Store.

Below, I’ve Listed The Biggest Changes That I Saw Coming in The App Store app in iOS8 and how it will change The Way We Do App Store Optimization (ASO)

1– Continuous Scrolling to Let Users See More Apps After a Search:-

With iOS6, Apple changed the App Store application on the iPhone to display only one application at a Time. It Was very good for the users as they see more details for each app and for the apps that are Showing up first in the Search but not so much for the other ones down the list. Forcing the users to Swipe from right to left to see each App is a drag and is limiting the number of app impressions.

With the introduction of the vertical scrolling, users will be able to see more apps and stop on the one They like. It doesn’t look like a big change but I believe that it will allow users to go deeper in the search Results.

2-Screenshots Instead of 1:-Until now, I was always saying that our first screenshot was the most important. Why? Because it was the only one seen when your app is part of the search result on the iPhone. With the app icon, it was the only other image that could convince or not someone to download your app.

Things are now changing. I’m not sure if you caught it in the keynote but it looks like 2 screenshots will be displayed instead of 1. That’s a great change and all app publishers should review their apps and make sure that the top 2 screenshots are the best at telling what their app is about and why someone should download it.

3-Related Searches to Easily Do a More Accurate Search :-
In Addition to Suggested Search (words suggested in the search field as you’re typing), Apple Introduced “Related Searches” Which Appear After The Search is Done. As You Can See on The Photo Above, These are “phrases” Related to the searched word already entered.

Here for the search “Recipes” the following phrases were suggested: “Cooking Recipes”, “Food Recipes”, “Recipe Books”.  From a user’s perspective, it is a very convenient way to do a more Accurate search based on keywords That are often combined.

As an app developer, I see this an opportunity to rank for highly searched keywords. Assuming That I have a Recipe application, then my goal should be to at least add the words “cooking”, “food” and “books”, to my keyword list or app name to be listed for those searches as I know That they’ll drive traffic.

4- App Previews to See Short Videos on How The App Works Before Downloading it:-

I’m glad that we’ll be finally able to add short videos to our app metadata. This feature was long due knowing That Android stores like Google Play or Amazon Store (for Kindle Fire) had it for a while.

Creating short engaging videos is not something that is easy to do alone and some developer instead hire Services to do it (Apptamin is one).

Apple will probably use Quicktime instead of Youtube to play the video but once my app videos will be ready, I’ll Upload them to Youtube too with a link to my app in iTunes to drive more downloads.

In any case, providing a video will be a way to stand out against your competition and convince iPhone and iPad Users that your app is worth downloading.

5-App Bundle to Sell Several Apps  at a Discount Price

App Bundles is an Interesting idea. When You Create apps that are targeted for the same audience and Complement each other then it makes sense to sell them together at a discount.

Until now, the closest way we could do this was to cross-promote our apps between each other. Now, let’s say That someone downloads few of your apps (maybe the free version) and start Trusting your brand, then they’ll be More motivated to buy a bundle of apps from you. This will Give you a way to get a higher sales price per Customer I believe.

As you can see on the photo above, the app bundle also has its own name (here “Toca Toy Box”). I bet that this Bundle name (like the regular app name) will be indexed by the Apple search and will give us an new way to be Found in the store.

6-Trending Searches to See What’s Hot in App Search

I often use Google Trends to see what trends on the web as it sometimes gives me ideas to create new Apps. I Also browse the top 200 of each app store category to see what kind of app are trending right Now.

With the introduction of “trending searches”, Apple gives us the keywords that are highly searched at The moment. Is this for the current hour, day, week, …? We don’t know yet but it will give us some Keywords to consider for our Apps and ideas of apps to create to satisfy the search (especially if the Searched keyword doesn’t return many Apps already).

That’s it for the main impact on ASO from my perspective. What do you think? Do you see other ones or Feel Different about the one listed above? Let me know in The Comments Below.

We Have Been Helping Developers Promote Their New Apps For kids. We Hope These Tips Help Developers Even More to Promote Their New Apps and, Hopefully

We have been helping developers promote their new apps for kids. We hope these tips help developers even More to promote their new apps and, hopefully, get them to the top charts of the app stores. Tips were not put in a specific priority order. It is said that there is no magic formula for iPhone app promotion- sometimes you get Lucky and get featured on the App Store and the iPhone app sales will pick up. Below are some steps that you can Take to Improve Your iPhone, iTouch, iPad App Sales:-

1. Get your app reviewed:-There is Now a Handful of Review Sites Like This One Willing to Write About New Apps. Search Them in Google, Look up For The Results on The First Page, Get in Touch With The Ones you like the most and submit your app

2. Make a promotional video:-Creating a ‘trailer’ of your app is easy and fast. And surely helps showcasing your work for people who have not tried it yet.

3. Choose an app name and keywords wisely:- You may come up with a unique name for your app, but a Descriptive title may serve you better. For example, if you have a coloring book app, using the word ‚’coloring’ in The app name could not hurt.

4. Stand out from the crowd with your app icon:- When parents are looking through some online reviews or looking through apps on iTunes, make sure that your app icon catches their eyes. You can make a catchy icon by using bright colors, shapes etc. Humans are genetically programmed to pay attention to human faces, so if it makes sense, using a human face in your icon may be smart thing to do. Among the below icons, which ones catch your eye and which ones you are most likely to click on?

5. Save some promo codes and run giveaways :-Pick some of the review sites where you have confirmation that Your app will be featured and give them some promo codes (5 to 10) for giveaways. That way, more people will try it out immediately and if they like the app, they will help mouth-to-mouth marketing.

6. Submit Your App to Review Sites:-  This is a no brainier, but when submitting to the review sites make sure that you follow the submission rules. This may increase your chances of being featured in the best app category for that blog.Choose sites that have the right audience for your app

7. Print out business card size fliers:- for your app and distribute in your local community (thanks to Laurent Denoue for this tip)

8. Advertise With Google AdWords:- Choose your keywords wisely. According to the Google keyword tool, currently only 6,000+ people who search for “iphone kids apps”, where there are about 2+ Million people who search for “math games for kids”. You can find out about monthly searcher for keywords using Google Keyword Tool and Google Insights for Search.

9. Advertise in Other iPhone Apps:- Popular in-app ad networks include

10. Price Your App Wisely:- Many parents will pay 0.99 for any app that may seem worthy but may think 10 times harder before paying $1.99.

11. Social Networking:- such as Twitter and Facebook to your app. For example if your application is a coloring book, make sure that parents can share the masterpieces of their kid easily with their friends and relatives, thus promoting your app.

12. Select your screenshot images wisely:- They should particularly appeal to kids, as well as the parents.

13. Participate in The Forums:- Identify forums that meet your target audience criteria and participate. By being a trusted adviser, your suggestions will be valued.

14. Email Signature:- Make sure that all your emails contain a description and link to your apps in the signature lines.

15. Create a Twitter campaign:- You can give away free promotion codes randomly to people who twitter about Your app.

Importance of App Store Optimization?

First, let Me Drive One Important Point Home: ASO is Really Important. ..Why? It’s Not Only Because Apps are Big Biz, But Because Customers Are Searching For Those Apps. Apptentive Reports That 63% (iOS) of App Customers Report Browsing in The App Store to Discover New Apps.

If your app doesn’t suck then it’s ok to invest some time into optimizing it a bit. The most important part is knowing what to optimize for, meaning the keyword. You want a keyword that has the most searches while it has the least competition (i.e. very few apps that target it). You can do some basic keyword research just by looking at your competitors, using Google Play’s auto-complete keyword suggestions and finally using a 3rd party service that gives you more flexibility in terms of GPSO.

For this purpose I compared 10 services that provide to some level tools to help you with the optimization process:Eyso, SensorTower,SearchMan,Appnique,Straply,Appcodes,MobiledevHQ,Mopapp,MetricsCat,Appannie,

As Mentioned Earlier Keyword Research is The Most Important Part of The Optimization so in Choosing These Services I Took Into Account if They Offer Keyword Tools or Not, But Also Considered Other Features, Which I’ll Describe Briefly Below

Price:- Obviously this is very important as most developers don’t have a lot of fund lying around like big players have. That’s why I also mention in the comparison table below if they offer or not a free trial/tier.

System:- Not all work with the 2 major markets so you’ll see which ones work with iOS apps and Android apps too.

Keyword Rankings:- This basically would give a report on how your app ranks for a particular keyword over a period of time.

Keyword Research:- Helps you delve deeper into a particular keyword to see if you can’t actually find a better alternative. Good tools also include a difficulty ranking (how much competition it is already for that keyword).

Keyword Suggestions:- Think of the suggestions that Google Play offers when you start typing something

Keyword Spy:- What keywords are your competitors using.

Category Rankings:- A top for the apps in a particular category.

Track Competitors:- Spy your competitors and their ranking.

Install reports:- How many users actually install and use your app (app analytics part).

Download reports:- How many downloads your app gets (and more important your competitors, think app intelligence)

Review Analysis:- Analyze the reviews and ratings your apps gets over time.

Email reports:- Receive reports via email with your ranking.

Visibility score:- A type of proprietary score that your app would get upon analysis from a ranking point of view.

Export data:- Possibility to export the data and use it locally.

Accuracy:- Everyone can say they offer keyword research, but how accurate is that?

What Is Difference Between App Store Optimization & SEO To Increase App Downloads

How App Store Optimization Play Important Role For App Downloads

Apple Store Keywords Optimization Tips & How to Setup Healthy ASO

With a very long history and experience in the mobile advertising platform industry, I must say that out of the very great number of ad networks I have worked with, StartApp is a most pleasant surprise.

To start off, the integration went very smoothly, and I was pleased to see that they expanded support for Swift, whichhad only been announced by Apple a few weeks ago. They also made sure to release their new SDK supporting iOS 8 (and iPhone 6), allowing timefor support questions and preparation prior to the release of Apples iOS 8.

From my experience I am pleased to share my thoughts about StartApp’s, as I feel they are notably unique. Their ad units always have very intricate and carefully chosen design and lively animations, which is quite a welcome change to the mundane static banners, unappealing often boring interstitials that are way too common today.

Just to illustrate what I am on about, you can see an example of the look and feel of their Appwall below:

1

On top of the simple and well-designed add units, let’s not forget what the bottom line issue is when looking for an ad platform, performance! This is where I feel that StartApp really has an edge. From my stats and comparisons, StartApp ads performed very well, especially in the full page ad category.

Another issue worth mentioning is their constant innovative edge. Let me explain and give an example…

Recently StartApp created a full page add unitthey call the “Return Add”. Displayed when usersreturns to your App pending a time frame of ten minutes or more where they left the App running in the background. This type of innovative advancements create new advertising real-estate for us to benefit from while keeping a very clean and straight forward UX.

Here is what the return add flow looks like:

 2

As for the all mighty eCPM… It is high and steady for my international user base. Nice for us developers looking to generate revenues and extend our profits in an ever growing international market of users. Bottom line, I found their eCPMto be very competitive with a fill rate that is almost 100%.

StartApp dashboard allows for easy daily stat tracking and although payment are net 30, they have never missed a payment to date!

Another feature worth mentioning is the self-serve ad portal. This is a great advantage for small time developers looking for distribution using a small budget. It is super simple and straight forward, and you can create a CPC campaigns very quickly and drive traffic to your new Apps that might need a boost. This is a brilliant method and advantage for devs to monetize their Apps and generate exposure all under one roof.

To sum it all up:

Pros:

-Original and engaging ad units

-New & innovative add options

-Easy SDK integration

-iOS 8, iPhone 6& Swiftsupport

Cons:

-iOS still does not have native add unit option, though I am told this is in the works
