NOTE: The measurement movement has to be quick and consistent, slow speed will affect results.

Like never before, use your phone as a precise electronic ruler just by combining your phone’s Accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer together with the magic of our inertial technology, measuring Distances starting from 1 centimeter!

Smart Length process your phone’s linear motion data in order to convert it to specific readable Measurements either in centimetres and meters or inches and feet giving you the possibility to Measure any object with a very acceptable error.

The measurement range is starting from 1 centimetre up to 2 meters; Theoretically there is no limit, But in average, is the longest consistent movement that a human being can correctly do without Stopping or losing velocity in a straight line, which is a requisite for the application in order to get Legitimate and representative data. Of course, if you can maintain the consistency at higher distances, Great! it will work, making it the perfect solution for relatively short distances that can not be Estimated with GPS due to it’s high error at little longitudes, compared with the acceptable 10% of Smart Legth, with its proper use.

Download this great utility in order to complement your phone with the capability to turn into an Electronic ruler!

Flying Ruler is a tape measure, ruler, protractor and a goniometer (angle-measurer). It is four devices in one app, providing you with the quickest way to measure a distance or an angle.
The Flying Ruler app allows you to measure in the most original way: by just moving your device from one point to another.

The secret of the program is that it is based on the principles of the inertial navigational system (INS): the position of the device is determined with the help of the accelerometer and the gyroscope. You can not only measure an object but also the distance between two walls.

The app has different modes so you can choose which mode is better and easier to use on each occasion. You can measure with the body of the device in one mode or with a virtual ruler in another. You use the same methods to measure angles as the app allows you to measure angles both on a surface area and between surfaces through space.
Don’t forget to show your friends and colleagues how the app works – believe us, they will be impressed.

# Mean squared error – 2,06%
# Maximum inaccuracy noted in measurement – 4.8%
# Number of measurements where inaccuracy was within 1% – 34
# Number of measurements where inaccuracy was within 2% – 62
# Number of measurements where inaccuracy was within 3% – 90
# Number of measurements where inaccuracy was within 4% – 96

If measuring carefully, inaccuracy is rarely more than 4 %. You can always increase accuracy by making a series of measurements – the app automatically works out the average measurement. If you make a series of measurements, the degree of accuracy is usually to within 1 to 2 %. When measuring angles, the degree of accuracy is usually to within one degree.
The app also allows you to save a measurement by taking a photograph of the measurement and mark the place that was measured.

# If the telephone often loses connection then the phone will repeatedly try and restore connection and slow down the reception of data from sensors. To solve this problem, switch the telephone to airplane mode.
# If an app is on in the background eg Skype, then that will take up a certain amount of telephone’s processing power and slow down the reception of data from the sensors. Turn off any additional apps when you use Flying Ruler.
# Inaccurate measurements can be caused by sharp, jerky movements or conversely, if you move the phone very slowly then accuracy could decrease. Don’t keep the phone in your hand at the start and end of the measurement.
# Theoretically, certain tweaks from Cydia can decrease accuracy as they are using undocumented functions. In these cases, we cannot guarantee the accuracy mentioned above.
